Homemade food in Oulu, delivered from local kitchens

Oulu is where Kotimaku started. The cooks here are neighbours rather than restaurants — people who make Karelian pies, curries, stews and cakes in their own registered home kitchens and sell what they actually cook at home.

Every dish is made after you order it, so there is no warming cabinet and no reheated batch. You order from one kitchen at a time, and that cook prepares your food and gets it to your door.

Where our Oulu cooks are

Kotimaku cooks are spread across the city rather than clustered in one restaurant district — you will find kitchens around the centre, Tuira, Karjasilta, Kaijonharju and Kaakkuri. Each kitchen sets the areas it delivers to itself, and that information is on the kitchen's own page along with its menu and contact details.

Ordering in Oulu

Not necessarily. Each cook runs their own deliveries, so the area covered varies from kitchen to kitchen. Open a kitchen's page to see what it covers before you order.

No — a cart holds items from a single kitchen, because each cook prepares and delivers their own order. If you add a dish from a different kitchen, we ask before starting a new cart.

Yes. Selling homemade food in Finland means registering as a food business with the local authority, and kitchens are reviewed before they can list anything. There is more detail in our FAQ.
